Prosthetic dentistry is that specific branch of dentistry that deals with the replacement of missing teeth or the complex oral rehabilitation of the dental arch.
Through prosthetic dentistry interventions, the dental integrity affected by various injuries or degradation is restored using prosthetic work – fixed or mobile dentures – adjusted according to the patient’s needs, dental facets, dental caps, inlays, dental bridges and complex prosthetic works done on implants.
Prosthetic dentistry does not only mean aesthetics. A functional reconstruction is also needed, which means that phonation (the production of vocal sounds) should be taken into account, along with mastication (grinding or crushing food) and dental occlusion, in order to avoid bruxism (teeth grinding). The dentist or specialist performing a prosthetic work should visualize the final result and be able to replicate it.
Zirconium, pressed ceramic (lithium disilicate) or feldspartic ceramic, are just two examples of new materials that, if used correctly and following the right protocol can lead to obtaining a lasting dental work that will look as natural as possible.

Prosthetic works can be:
- Caps or dental bridges;
- Fixed or removable dentures;
- Dental facets (ceramic or zirconium);
- Dental incrustation;
- Corono-radicular attachments;
The benefits of prosthetic works:
- You can reconstruct parts of your denture that have suffered changes in shape or structure;
- In case of losing one or more teeth;
- If teeth present difficulties in developing dental enamel;
- In the case of major dental coloring that cannot be rectified through professional whitening;
